Our History:
In 1957, Reverend Athal Beasley was appointed by
the Alabama-West Florida Conference to found a church in East
Montgomery. The Montgomery District Board of Missions purchased a
lot at the corner of Perry Hill and Harrison roads.

The first formal meetings were held in the back yard of Oliver Osbourn's
home at 1015 Beechdale road. Much interest was shown and a
second-hand tent was purchased. The first service was held under
the tent on Sunday, July 14, 1957 with Dr. W.F.
Calhoun preaching the first sermon.

Ground breaking ceremonies were held on September 29, 1957 with Reverend
Charles F. Forester of First Methodist Church conducting the services.

We moved into the first phase of the building - a
one
room
concrete block building - on November
17, 1957 with 49 present
for Sunday School and 79
for worship service.

In 1959, the second phase of the unit was started. This consisted
of a kitchen, classrooms and restrooms on the first floor. In 1962, the third phase was built consisting of
classrooms and restrooms on the second floor. It was at this time
that the brick was added to all units. In 1964, the fourth phase
was built.
In 1980, the Korean United Methodist Church was given permission to use
the fellowship hall for their services. Significant improvements
have been made to the interior of the church
building between 1980 and the present including an elevator, suspend
ceiling, new lights, new chancel furniture and a lighted cross in the
sanctuary, new restrooms and just recently a new kitchen. Outdoor
improvements include, a covered portico, new ramps and sidewalks and a
children's multi-purpose playground.
